Food is a basic need. We have to produce sufficient and healthy food worldwide without exhausting the natural resources. We have to look beyond bounderies, share knowledge and technologies; develop other views and have an open vision and cooperate globally.
The Aeres Group trains people who are aware of the consequences of their actions for the future. They cooperate in finding solutions to the worldwide food problem: producing and sharing food sustainable.

Introducing the project

Project near the Awash river"Ethiopia is booming. There is a lot of development in this country and to partake in that is marvelous." This is said by Henk Sijbenga, project leader Ethiopia. "With this project the Aeres Groep can make a real contribution to social entrepreneurship. This way, we can share the knowledge we have and make it available for others."

The project

Expertise center in DebreThe Aeres Group has built an expertise centre in Debre Zeyt where disadvantaged youth can take agricultural vocational courses. Thanks to intensive co-operation with local businesses in Ethiopia, the young students can work on a temporary assignment and have initial skill adaptation training on the shop floor. This gives them better opportunities for work and a better future. The centre was opened in January 2011.

Contributors to the project are teachers, students and trainees from Stoas University of Applied Sciences and Teacher Education, CAH University of Applied Sciences and Groenhorst Colleges and Training Centers. These institutions are all part of the Aeres Group.  For example: trainees from Groenhorst have spend their ten day internship to find out what the best method is to market crops and what was needed to do so.
