Agricultural BTEC courses

If you or your students want to develop skills needed to get on in life: BTEC qualifications might be the answer. Engaging and inspiring, these work-related qualifications provide a practical, real-world approach to learning without sacrificing any of the essential subject theory.

News article on BTEC: Growing interest for BTEC courses on vocational level >>>

Over 25 years, BTEC qualifications give students the skills they need to either move on to higher education or go straight into employment. BTECs can be taken as well as, or in place of, traditional academic curriculum in schools and colleges. They are valued by colleges, universities, employers and professional bodies and recognised throughout 85 countries worldwide.

Within the Aeres Groep, the educational insitute Groenhorst is a licenced BTEC college. It offers five BTEC training courses:

Please note! These training courses are organised only in co-operation with our educational partners (worldwide).

A practical approach to study

BTECs offer a practical hands-on approach that is often lacking in more traditional academic routes. Students have to undertake a number of units for which they present evidence, based on real-life work and studies. This allows them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

No exam pressure

Some students thrive during the pressure of exams; others often fail to achieve their potential due to worries or nerves. When studying the BTEC way, progress is measured throughout the course, allowing the student to gauge their own performance on a continuing basis, just like in a real workplace. Students are more engaged and motivated as a result, as they can see their own progress through the course rather than waiting to the end and sit an exam.

Keep your options open

BTECs are flexible for students and allow them to keep their options open. Whether a student wants to continue onto further education or head straight into the workforce a BTEC will allow them to explore both possibilities.

Inspiring guidelines

Learning should be fun, not daunting. In our experience, students enjoy BTEC programmes because they can specialise in areas of learning linked with work that they are interested in. Students build their confidence because they are developing skills that will help them secure a job or place in higher education in the future. Assignment may be in written form, but it’s just as likely they will be in other formats  e.g. film clips, posters and presentations. Students are always given clear guidelines so they know what they have to achieve and how to do this.

Teamwork

Teamwork is an important aspect in the world of work, which is also a key feature of BTECs. Students work on assignments individually and in groups.
